BLUE BEE BASE were created in response to the threat to Australian and global bee populations. Jean-Pierre F. Mercader (Victorian Beekeeper and Inventor) has devised a new Blue bee Base. Aimed to replace the traditional plain bottom board which has been in common use for the past 160 years.
The reason for this invention is a shift in patterns relating to parasites and diseases that can quickly decimate honey bee colonies.
The idea behind the invention is to allow honey bees to self manage the maintenance of the hive. Through their grooming and cleaning practices they greatly improve the health of the colony.
Healthy honey bees colonies not only produce greater yields of honey but are also essential to the health of agriculture. Thereby, ensuring the quantity and quality of our long term food supplies.
