Description
HOOP PINE FRAMES
Bee hive frames are the removable sections inside a beehive that hold the honeycomb and provide support for the bees. Bee hive frames made from hoop pine are a common choice in beekeeping. Hoop pine (Araucaria) is a type of softwood native to Australia. It is valued for its durability and workability, making it suitable for beekeeping.
Hoop pine frames for beehives are manufactured using precision equipment to ensure proper fit within the hive boxes. These frames consist of a top bar, bottom bar, and side bars that hold the honeycomb foundation. The honeybees build their wax comb on the foundation within these frames.
We use hoop pine frames in conjunction with removable foundation sheets. These sheets are typically made of beeswax or plastic and provide a guide for the bees to build their honeycomb within the frame. The frames can be easily removed from the hive for inspection, honey extraction, or swarm management.
There are five different sizes. Full Depth, WSP, Manley, Ideal and Half Depth.
