Local Business Man, David Horton, has applied his knowledge of the timber industry to enter into a new business, Bee Keeping Supplies.
Burnett Bee Keeping Supplies owner, David Horton, said “I saw a shortage in the industry for hoop pine timber being used for bee keeping products. So I went into the bee keeping supplies business.”
“Hoop pine is such a nice, clean timber to work with both from a manufacturing perspective and for our bee keepers,” said Mr Horton.
“I simply applied my 15 years experience in the timber industry to bee keeping supplies,” he said.
“Almost a decade ago I started working with a local bee keeper and he spiked my interest into bee keeping supplies. So we started the business and have grown our range.”
Burnett Bee Keeping is based in Kingaroy and owned by husband wife team David and Gaye Horton in partnership with nephew Bruce and his wife Sonya.
Gaye Horton said “David’s passion for timber ensures that our manufacturing plant works with very little waste.”
“Off cuts go to the national parks and wildlife in the Bunya Mountains to be used for fires and bbq’s. Our sawdust and shavings are available for chook pens, horse stables or gardens,” said Mrs Horton.
“We also support the local shows by supplying sawdust and shavings for the Feather Club,” she said.
